Rebellious Old Fashioned
A bold twist on the classic, the Rebellious Old Fashioned blends burnished sweetness, warming spice, and whiskey’s backbone into rebellion served in a glass.
Defiant yet refines, this riff on the Old Fashioned bends transition without breaking it. The burnished sweetness of gold syrup and Madeira meet the warming spice of allspice dram, tempered by aged brandy and anchored with a foundation of whiskey. This is rebellion served in a glass, with enough courage to make it last the night.
Ingredients
- 0.25oz Gold Syrup
- 0.25oz Madeira
- 0.25oz aged brandy
- 0.5oz allspice dram
- 0.5 grams angostura bitters
- Add 1.75-2oz of your preferred whiskey to the above, such as Provenance 7 or 14 year, stir to chill and dilute.
Instructions
- In a mixing glass, combine:
- 0.25 oz Gold Syrup
- 0.25 oz Madeira
- 0.25 oz aged brandy
- 0.5 oz allspice dram
- 0.5 g Angostura bitters
- Add 1.75–2 oz of your preferred whiskey.
- Fill with ice and stir until well chilled and diluted.
- Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
- Garnish as you please—an orange peel twist or nothing at all, depending on how rebellious you’re feeling.
